As many of you may know I’m a long distance runner, of sorts, and both my kids and wife were, at least once, waiting for me to pass the start line for a run. I was very happy to see wave and they had such big smiles watching their dad running off to a potential slow death. That was one moment that I’ll always remember.
I’ve been thinking of the Boston attacks all day long, both because I’m a runner, a father and because I’m Greek and we Greeks know about terrorism and the senseless killing of innocents.
I also know that many fellow Greeks will be secretly or openly happy that these attacks happened to Americans, who for many reasons that go way beyond any «regular» conspiracy theory, not to be discussed here, are blamed for almost everything that’s wrong on this planet.
So, my message is this: if any of my friends in the various social networks I’ve joined actually think that what happened in Boston yesterday is in any way excused or can be logically explained, please un-friend me, un-follow me or just plain forget all about me. The people that set these bombs, for whatever reason they did this, are my enemies and I can find no way to excuse them or in any way «understand» their motives.
An 8 year old child was killed. In a not so different scenario this boy could have been my son, or yours. But even if you don’t see this possibility as I do, I don’t care. If for any reason any of you feels inclined to, somehow, justify or try to justify actions like the ones in Boston, you are not my friend even in the «extended» sense of Facebook, Twitter or any other social network.
So just unfriend me and be done with it. If you fail to do so and decide to post anything that may show support to the bombers in any way, you will find my comments on your threads and trust me, I will not be as polite as I am now.
